Bathroom Remodeling Built to Last in San Diego, CA
When you step into an aging shower, you may notice a few unfortunate things. The grout is dark even after being cleaned, the caulk has pulled away from the corners, and you may even notice a musty smell. These aesthetic flaws can indicate much larger problems, like mold and mildew buildup and poor ventilation. It’s time for an update.
California Bathrooms is a family-owned and operated bathroom remodeling company serving San Diego, California. With over 40 years of industry experience, we focus on what's beneath the surface as much as the polished finish. Proper waterproofing, drainage, ventilation systems, and structural framing are all essential in determining whether a shower holds up over time or fails. We leave no stone unturned to ensure your bathroom remodel is done right and built to last.
Shower Conversions and Replacements
We provide bathroom renovations that focus on removing and replacing wet-space components. This approach lets us work within your existing bathroom footprint, addressing underlying structural issues without the cost and disruption of a full gut renovation.
Shower Remodeling and Shower Installation
If your current shower has failing grout, moisture behind the walls, or aged surfaces, a full shower remodel may be the right call. We build custom showers using grout-free wall systems from High-Tech Polymer or Purostone with Hydroblock waterproofing as the foundation.
Tub-to-Shower Conversion
An underused tub can be a pain to work around. With a tub-to-shower conversion, we open up your bathing space within its existing footprint. We remove the tub, properly prep the substrate, and install a shower system without relocating plumbing.
Bathtub Replacement
If you need to update your outdated tub, we offer a range of sleek, modern bathtub replacements to elevate your soaking experience.
Accessibility and Safety Remodeling
Beyond upgrading to a modern, low-maintenance bathing space, planning ahead for safe bathing while aging in place is a great reason to start your bathroom renovation. We offer ADA-compliant, accessible shower remodels so you can prioritize safety without sacrificing style.

How We Raise the Standard in Bathroom Remodeling
California has some of the most demanding building codes in the country, which outline requirements for lighting, ventilation, and drainage. These standards don't stay static, so we get ahead of code updates by going above and beyond from the start.
California Bathrooms’ Crafted to Zero process is our trademarked five-layer system designed around California's code trajectory, not just compliance with the current building standards. It covers waterproofing, ventilation, drainage, lighting, and finish. This intentional sequence ensures your bathroom update is sound from the very bones of its structure. That’s work that’s built to last, not just look good. This proven process avoids the pitfalls of surface-level bathroom remodels, which often result in moisture intrusion down the road.
Coverage With Two Lifetime Warranties
We keep you covered with two warranties. One warranty covers the finished wall system, either High-Tech Polymer or Purostone. The second covers the Hydroblock waterproofing and backing system. Hydroblock’s warranty is available through us as a certified and trained Hydroblock contractor.
Together, these two warranties protect both the visible surface and the system underneath it. These are manufacturer warranties, not workmanship warranties. We outline the difference in our comprehensive warranty guide.
