Who is actually going to stand behind that warranty 10, 15, or 20 years from now?
Because there's a big difference between a lifetime manufacturer warranty and a lifetime workmanship warranty. Understanding that difference could save you thousands of dollars years after your remodel is finished.
A Manufacturer Is Built to Stand Behind Products
When a real manufacturer offers a lifetime warranty, that warranty is attached to the product. Not to whichever local company installed it.
Big manufacturers pour millions into engineering, testing, quality control, and customer support. Their whole reputation rides on making products that last. If a defect shows up years down the road, they're still on the hook to honor the warranty by its terms.
And that relationship doesn't care who your contractor was. It exists on its own.
A Workmanship Warranty Is Only as Strong as One Company
A workmanship warranty lives and dies with the company that wrote it.
So ask yourself a few honest questions about that company:
Will they still be in business in 15 years?
Will they still have the same owners?
Will they still cover your area?
Will they have the money to pay an expensive claim?

What California Bathrooms Actually Warrants
At California Bathrooms, we believe homeowners deserve clear warranty terms rather than one oversized promise covering every component of the project.
Different parts of a bathroom perform different functions, experience different levels of wear, and have different expected service lives. Our warranty structure reflects those differences.
Lifetime Workmanship Warranty on the Crafted to Zero™ Waterproofing Installation
California Bathrooms provides a lifetime workmanship warranty on our installation of the qualifying Crafted to Zero™ wet-area waterproofing assembly identified in the customer's contract and written warranty documents.
This is the concealed part of the bathroom designed to protect the home from hidden water intrusion.
The covered waterproofing assembly may include qualifying components such as:
Approved waterproof wall substrate
Waterproofed seams and transitions
Waterproofing around approved penetrations
Connections between the waterproof wall system and the shower base or tub
Installation details specifically identified in the written warranty
Coverage applies for as long as the original customer owns the home, subject to the exclusions and conditions in the written warranty.
This warranty applies to California Bathrooms' workmanship. It does not replace the separate warranties provided by product manufacturers.
Five-Year Workmanship Warranty on Other Installed Components
California Bathrooms provides a five-year workmanship warranty on the other qualifying components we install.
Depending on the contracted project scope, this may include the installation of:
Vanities
Fixtures
Shower glass
Grab bars and accessories
Hardware
Sealant
Bathroom flooring
Toilets
Exhaust fans
Other identified finish components
These parts of the bathroom are regularly used, adjusted, cleaned, maintained, and eventually replaced.
We separate their workmanship coverage from the concealed waterproofing assembly rather than representing every bathroom component as though it carries the same expected life or exposure to wear.
Manufacturer Warranties on Eligible Products
Many products we install carry their own manufacturer warranties. These protect against qualifying product defects and are separate from our installation workmanship warranty. Depending on the materials selected for your project, this may include:
Wall systems — HTP and PuroStone (Bath Concepts): Limited lifetime manufacturer's warranty against product defects, for as long as the original residential owner owns the home. May be transferred to a subsequent owner if the transfer is completed within two years of installation. Covers the product; it does not cover installation, which is why our own workmanship warranty matters.
HydroBlok waterproofing substrate: Limited lifetime manufacturer's warranty against product defects on installations registered with the manufacturer within the required timeframe after installation. California Bathrooms registers qualifying installations as part of our documentation process.
Moen fixtures (residential): Limited lifetime manufacturer's warranty.
Flooring (LVP/LVT): Manufacturer's warranty varies by the product line selected, ranging up to a limited lifetime residential warranty on premium wear-layer products.
Exhaust fans, shower glass, vanities, and other finish components: Manufacturer's warranty varies by product and selection.
The exact duration, eligibility, registration requirements, transferability, remedies, and exclusions are governed by each manufacturer's written warranty, which we provide.
Manufacturer coverage protects against qualifying product defects. California Bathrooms' workmanship warranty protects against qualifying installation defects. Notably, our primary wall-system manufacturer warrants its products but expressly does not cover installation so our workmanship warranty is what stands behind how those products are installed in your home. These are different protections, and homeowners should understand both.

No contractor can truthfully guarantee that nothing will ever require adjustment, repair, or service. What a responsible contractor can do is clearly define its installation process, document the work, explain its warranty terms, and respond when a legitimate covered issue arises.

1. What is covered by the contractor's workmanship warranty?
2. What is covered separately by the manufacturer?
3. Are labor and replacement materials included?
4. What exclusions or maintenance requirements apply?
5. How long does coverage last on each part of the project?
6. How are installers trained?
7. Is the waterproofing installation documented?
8. What quality-control inspections are performed?
9. How is a warranty claim submitted?
10. Who makes the final coverage determination?
A company should be able to answer these questions clearly and provide the actual warranty documents before the project begins.
